The best type of bananas to use for this recipe is just one type. The type that is classified to be too brown by your family to eat are the bananas I am talking about. The browner the bananas the better and the browner the banana, the sweeter the banana flavor is!

My kids love to eat this in the morning right before they head out for school. I prefer to enjoy this with my morning coffee or a tea.

Make this in the morning or the night before and have it ready for the morning. It is even better a little warm! Keep it stored in an air tight container for up to 7 days in the refrigerator. Normally, it doesn’t last that long!

  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 3 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 4 Medium Ripe Bananas mashed
  • 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter melted
  • 2 Cups Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Medium Eggs
  • 1 Teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Cup Milk

Crumb Topping

  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 Cups light brown sugar
  • 1 Cup Unsalted Butter cold, cut into slices


  • Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt for the batter. Set aside.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, add the mashed bananas and melted butter, Using a hand mixer, mix the ingredients well. Then add in the sugar, eggs, vanilla extract and milk. Mix well.
  • Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredient bowl and mix well.
  • In a third bowl, add the three ingredients for the crumb topping. Use a fork and cut the butter into the dry ingredients. Once the ingredients are mixed, you will have little balls forming.
  • In a 9×13 prepared pan, pour in half the batter. Layer half the crumb topping next and the pour the remaining batter on top. Finish with the rest of the crumb topping.
  • Cook for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the middle.
  • Allow to cool and slice. Serve warm.
