Slow Cooker Apple Pudding Cake
Desserts in the slow cooker are super easy to make any night of the week. On a single working mother’s schedule, using my slow cooker for dinner and dessert is something if find not only convenient but also something I can have my kids use to make dinner.
This cake is one of those desserts and comes out moist and creamy and full of apples and goodness. We love trying new recipes and fun desserts. That and my kids love seeing what new desserts they can make and what they can add to top it with!
Even though this is a “pudding” cake, this recipe does not use a store bought pudding mix. The pudding part is all in the sauce portion of the recipe. 3 layers make up this homemade dessert, the cake, the fresh sliced apples and the sauce.
I used a large serving spoon to spoon the finished dessert out of the slow cooker. Heaping hot spoonfuls of cake in a bowl with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Bring this dessert up a notch with a drizzle of chocolate syrup or even caramel ice cream topping! Or even a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips or chopped nuts.
Frugal Cooking Tips:
- Peel, core and slice extra apples. Add 3 cups to a freezer ziploc and freeze. When you need apples for a recipe or a smoothie, thaw and use.
- Before oranges go bad, squeeze them and freeze the juice in an ice cube tray. Freeze them in a freezer ziploc. 3 cubes for one cup.
