Making morning breakfast in the slow cooker is an easy way to make a nutritious and easy meal for the whole family! This Slow Cooker Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal is one of those delicious recipes.
Oatmeal is my favorite go to meal to make overnight and have ready as I head out to work in the morning and the kids are getting ready for school. A few slices of fresh fruit and a little cinnamon sprinkled on top to top it off!
I hate to allow bananas to go to waste. I purchase bananas in bulk and freeze them in freezer bags with three bananas per bag. Whenever I want to make this oatmeal, I pull out a bag before preparing this recipe and add the bananas to it.
There are many variations to this recipe depending on the fruit you use and what spices. I have had good luck using regular milk and using almond milk. I like this with a little sprinkle of ground cinnamon, freshly sliced bananas and even some chopped walnuts!
This recipe requires steel cut oatmeal. Old fashioned oatmeal or quick oats will not work in the slow cooker. Steel cut oatmeal holds up to the length of cooking where the later tend to become too mushy and flavorless.
