Ingredients

  • 1 Pound 93% lean ground beef use the leanest you can find
  • 1 Pound Ground Turkey
  • 1 Diced yellow Onion
  • 2 Cups Bread Crumbs
  • 4 Tablespoons Ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Cup Skim Milk
  • 2 Large Eggs Can use 4 egg whites if you want less fat
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 2 Teaspoons Dry Parsley Leaves or Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 Teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Topping
  • 3/4th Cup Ketchup
  • 4 Tablespoons Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Red Wine Vinegar

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees. I find the glass loaf pans are better at not allowing the sides to burn at all vs the metal loaf pans. You will need 2.
  • You will need a large mixing bowl. Put all ingredients in it except the topping ingredients. With your hands mix the meat, liquid and spices well until everything in uniform and mixed.
  • Scoop into the loaf pans, and pat down flat.
  • In a small bowl mix the ketchup, brown sugar and red wine vinegar. Evenly spread on top of the loaves.
  • Bake uncovered for 55 minutes at 350 degrees. Depending on your oven, you may want to turn these around half way through to make sure they bake evenly. `
  • Pull out of oven. With the turkey you want to make sure it as reached 165 degrees with a meat thermometer. Then allow to sit for at least 10 minutes so it will rest and hold it's shape better.
